​​The owners wanted an interior in the spirit of classic Parisian apartments – a blend of traditional finishes and contemporary furniture. We chose natural parquet, elegant plaster cornices, and moldings, while keeping the furniture minimal and functional.

LAYOUT

​

The apartment is a typical Stalin‑era three‑bedroom with windows on two sides. To make the most of the space, we reorganized the layout, merging the long hallway with the living room. The kitchen was connected to the living area via a full‑height glass partition, and the bathroom was enlarged by incorporating part of the former kitchen corridor. The old bathroom space was repurposed into a compact separate laundry room. In the bedroom, we created a walk‑in wardrobe, and in the children's room, we used the full ceiling height for storage and an additional lounge area.

MATERIALS

​

We favored natural materials throughout: oak herringbone parquet, a marble slab, painted walls, plasterboard ceilings with paint finish, gypsum moldings, and natural stone window sills. PVC windows were installed to stay within budget – though by the end of the renovation, we slightly regretted this; wooden windows would have suited the interior better.

​

The bathroom is modest at just 2.7 m², so the owners opted for a spacious shower rather than a small bathtub. We chose calm, stylish Italian tiles from Keope Ceramiche, which keep the compact space feeling uncluttered while offering a pleasant tactile quality.

STORAGE

​

The main storage solutions include a concealed wardrobe in the hallway, a small dressing room in the children's room, and a larger one in the bedroom – all custom‑made to size by a local joinery workshop.

​

The owner did not want any visible wardrobes, so even the small hallway cabinet was built from plasterboard with flush‑mount doors, finished with gypsum moldings to blend seamlessly into the wall.

​

For furnishings, we selected an Italian kitchen by Cesar (Maxima model), beds and a sofa from the Estetica furniture factory. The kitchen features the iconic Tulip table by Finnish designer Saarinen, paired with Calligaris chairs. In the bedroom, the armchair, bedside tables, side table, and floor lamp are from Eichholtz.

COLOUR

​

The starting point was the classic white Parisian apartment – rich with moldings and ornate detailing – so the interior is light and airy. However, we avoided a sterile, all‑white look by introducing soft grey and beige tones.

​

The boldest color statement is a vivid blue dressing room – an architectural "cube" inserted into the bedroom space, serving as a striking focal point.
